Laser Cutting
What is Laser Cutting?
The term LASER denotes Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. A technology where laser is utilized to cut solid materials mostly metals for utilizing them in production line and for sole industrial manufacturing applications is Laser cutting. LASER device creates densely concentrated monochromatic and tenacious ray of light by stimulated emission and is directed to metals like carbon steel, aluminium, stainless steel and copper alloys. These substance interact in various manner different kinds of Laser beam. Some either melts or flame or steam away, others are blustered away by line of gas, throwing away an edge with a high quality surface finish.
Flat metal sheets and other alike materials, piping and structural materials need high quality sophisticated laser cutters. Metal fabrication industries typically utilize laser cutting method to raise the pace of metal cutting and its productivity. Further, laser cutting method cuts down manufacturing costs, accelerates productivity and provides superior quality laser cutting service.
Classes of Lasers
There are 3 (three) forms of lasers, such as: CO2 laser, Neodymium (Nd) Laser and Neodymium Yttrium-Aluminium-Garnet (Nd-YAG) Lasers.
The carbonated laser is usually used for drilling, cutting, and engraving. Fast and slow axial flow, transverse flow, and slab are the very common types of CO2 lasers.
Both Neodymium (Nd) and Neodymium Yttrium-Aluminium-Garnet (Nd-YAG) Lasers are identical in manner but they differentiate in purpose. Neodymium (Nd) laser is exploited for metal boring and very high energy is needed with quite low recurrence.
The Neodymium Yttrium-Aluminium-Garnet (Nd-YAG) Lasers entails high amount of power and naturally utilized for boring and engraving. But CO2, Nd and Nd-YAG lasers are employed for welding reason.
Methodology of Cutting With Laser
There are various methodology of cutting materials with laser. But several methodology are employed to cut several materials. The techniques are as below:
- Melt, blow and burn
- Melt and blow
- Vaporize
- Scrib
- Thermal stress crack
- Cold cut
- Burn stabilized laser cutting.
Benefit & Detriment of laser cutting
The usual merits of laser cutting are accuracy, economy and cutting quality and speed. But its primary shortcoming is that it requires ultra voltage for working smoothly. Worker might also expose to high risk of getting serious burns from the highly intense laser.

I found article to be a very informative, all about laser. Even the portions that I was unfamiliar with were explained in simple terms. 5 star!! laser welded
ReplyDeleteThere are advantages of laser cutting..
ReplyDelete1. efficiency of a laser cutting machine is very high, and required design replicas obtained are exact copies of each other.
2. Laser cutting is controlled by computer programs, thus saving considerable amount of work.
